this publication was created for the group exhibition Characters make stories, curated by Hallveig Agustsdottir, Stijn Cole, Dirk Elst, Wouter Feyaerts, Kelly Schacht and Vadim Vosters. The exhibition took place in Extra City, Antwerp, and was organized by the Frans Masereel Centrum. The publication compiles reflections on the course of the exhibition project, on collectivity, representation and property.
A Preface for a Project is conceived as a manual to go with the exhibition, as well as another possible project. The text is put into footnotes, but for the rest, the pages are blank: the texts that the footnotes are supposed to accompany, are absent. The filling-in of the pages is left to the imagination of the reader, with the footnotes as guidelines.
